On Thursday, April 10th, Eggert Elementary welcomed picture book and chapter book author Mylisa Larsen for an inspiring and fun-filled Author’s Day. A native of Syracuse, Mylisa engaged students with her love of literature and showed them how the writing process can be just as exciting as playing a game.

In the days leading up to the event, students let their creativity shine in a pajama design contest. Fourteen winners were selected to enjoy a special lunch with Mylisa, where they could ask questions and learn more about life as a writer.

The visit left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. A big thank you goes out to the Author’s Day Committee, the PTO, and OPFAE for their generous support in bringing this memorable experience to Eggert!

Eggert Elementary School’s third graders recently took their learning beyond the classroom walls, offering parents and guests a unique, interactive experience that blended research, technology, and creativity. The event, designed to showcase the students’ hard work and growing knowledge, transformed the classroom into a lively historical exhibit.

Students have been researching influential historical figures, delving into their lives, achievements, and impact on society. Their findings were then brought to life through recorded presentations, which guests could access by scanning QR codes placed throughout the room. This innovative approach allowed visitors to move at their own pace, engaging with each historical figure in an immersive and dynamic way.
